Hardening phase precipitation in weld metal of vanadium-zirconium-carbon-yttrium alloy
Description
Precipitations were studied in weld metal on the vanadium-zirconium-carbon-yttrium alloy directly after arc welding at rates of 10 and 100 m/h and subsequent heat treatment at 800, 1100 and 1600 deg C using transmission electron microscopy. It is established that weld metal contains coarse and fine lammellar precipitations, corresponding to carbide V2C with a hexagonal close-packed lattice and globular precipitations, corresponding to carbide ZrC with a face-centered cubid lattice. Welding and heat treatment conditions were found to effect weld metal structure
