12C(α,2α)8Be(g.s.) reaction at low energies and the quasi-elastic mechanism
Description
The reaction 12C(α,2α)8Be was studied at energies between 23.3 and 33.5 MeV. The energy dependence of off-energy-shell α-α cross sections was extracted and compared with theory. The disagreement obtained casts some doubt on previous interpretations of the mechanism of this reaction at low energies
