Description

Prospective scenario exercises raise a key question with respect to evolutions in the electricity installed base and the pre-requisites for an increased integration of renewable energies. Many studies from various perspectives have made it possible to model electricity systems based on a growing share of renewable energies. The methodologies used, their spatial and temporal granularity as well as their results, are quite diverse and even contradictory at times, at least on the surface. This article, based on a study carried out for the Theme-Based Technology Transfer Consortium of the French Alliance for the Coordination of Energy Research, notably sets forth an analysis that enhances our understanding of these results.
