Test operation KNK II: Investigation of the gas entrainments with disengaged reactivity limit (May '81 till Febr. '82)
Description
During the start-up phase of KNK II the reactor was tripped repeatedly by signals of too negative reactivity, which were caused by gas entrainment. In the frame of a special test program a limited power operation campaign was performed in which the reactivity threshold of the reactimeter was deactivated in order to study the pattern and the amplitudes of the reactivities in the power range of 40 to 90 %. The report describes the course of the test program and its results. All together 22 signals were observed exceeding the threshold of -7.3 cent with a largest peak of -19 cent. An influence of the reactor power could not be observed, but a general difference compared with the operation in 1979/80 could be noted after the mass-flow reduction in the degasification pipe. Probably the discharge mechanism of the gas storage has been changed, but no new knowledge about the storage localization could be gained

Waehrend der Inbetriebnahme von KNK II wurden Reaktorschnellabschaltungen durch negative Reaktivitaetspeaks verursacht, die auf Gaseintrag zurueckzufuehren waren. Im Rahmen des Versuchsprogramms wurde daher ein befristeter Leistungsbetrieb mit abgeschaltetem Reaktivitaetsgrenzwert durchgefuehrt, um in dem bis dahin nicht zugaenglichen Leistungsbereich von 40 % bis 90 % den Verlauf und die Amplituden der Reaktivitaeten zu untersuchen. Der Bericht beschreibt den Ablauf des Versuchsbetriebs und seine Ergebnisse. Insgesamt wurden 22 den Grenzwert von -7.3 cent unterschreitenden Reaktivitaetseinbrueche registriert mit einem Maximalwert von -19 cent. Eine Abhaengigkeit von der Reaktorleistung war nicht zu erkennen, jedoch wurde nach Drosselung des Durchsatzes der Entgasungsleitung ein Unterschied zum Betrieb in 1979/80 festgestellt. Wahrscheinlich hat sich der Entladungsmechanismus des Gasspeichers geaendert, ueber den Ort des Speichers konnten jedoch keine Erkenntnisse gewonnen werden
