Description
Ultrasound, being a non-ionising radiation, and providing a non-invasive means to get intra-body information is widely used in medical diagnosis, as well as a tool in therapeutic procedures. The use of this type of radiation is continually growing despite the development of new techniques and also because of its low cost. The understanding of the basic principles of the generation of ultrasound waves, their propagation in different media, their interaction with those media, as well as the methods and the instrumentation used to measure these parameters is of prime importance if accurate information is to be gained. A pulse-echo microcontrolled system (SPEM) has been made in our laboratory in order to measure and study ultrasound features in fluid medium. Poster 188. (author)
