Description

French governmental actions about nuclear safety are described. These regulation actions follow three main and complementary ways: individual licensing for each facility after a careful technical examination of safety reports; elaboration and application of general purpose technical safety regulations; nuclear facility inspection. The responsible organization in France is the ''Service Central de Surete des Installations Nucleaires'' (SCSIN). Some examples of its action are given. A high level in nuclear safety is attained and the objective for the future is to maintain it

Abstract (French)

On decrit l'action des pouvoirs publics en France en ce qui concerne la surete des installations nucleaires. Cette action reglementaire s'exerce par trois voies principales et complementaires: un systeme d'autorisations individuelles, concernant chaque installation, apres examen technique approfondi des dispositions destinees a assurer la surete; l'elaboration et l'application de regles techniques de caractere general concernant la surete; la surveillance. L'organisme responsable est le Service Central de Surete des Installations Nucleaires (SCSIN). Quelques exemples de son action sont donnes. La surete nucleaire a ainsi atteint en France un niveau extremement eleve; l'objectif est de s'y maintenir
