Recurrence of cancer of the rectum: Computerized tomography report from the meeting of Gesellschaft der Aerzte in Wien

Description
There is still no ideal method of detecting recurrences of carcinomas of the rectum. Even computed tomography, much in use as of late, often has falsely negative findings. The problem is that too much trust in the validity of these findings may delay therapy until it is too late. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Fuer die Abklaerung von Rezidiven des Rektumkarzinoms gibt es noch keine ideale Methode. Auch die in letzter Zeit eingesetzten Computer-Tomographen fuehren zu falsch-negativen Ergebnissen. Verhaengnisvoll kann dabei sein, dass durch ein zu grosses Vertrauen in die Validitaet der Befunde therapeutische Massnahmen ungebuehrlich verzoegert werden. (orig.)Additional details
