High field superconducting magnet for scientific and industrial applications
Description
A small high field superconducting solenoid for use in testing superconducting materials has been designed and fabricated following the wet winding technique; provision has been kept for a superconducting switch for operation in the persistent mode, if so desired. The optimization considerations are outlined and the solenoid parameters are given. The magnet is optimized for a field of 57 kOe at 4.2 K and is expected to give a field of over 70 kOe, when the temperature is lowered below 3 K. (author)
