Utilization of acoustic emission fracture tests

Description
The fracture properties of three different welded joints were investigated by the acoustic emission (AE) technique. The mechanical characteristics and the integrated discrete AE signals were measured simultaneously on three joints made with electrodes of different quality. Different relations were observed between the integrated number of AE events and the crack propagation depending on the quality and type of the joints. (author)
