Role of monitored retrievable storage in integrated waste management systems
Description
Several Congressionally mandated reports on the high-level radioactive waste management program within the last year directly relate to the role of monitored retrievable storage (MRS) in that program. They are 'Nuclear Waste: Is There a Need for Federal Interm Storage?'; 'Report to Congress on Reassessment of the Civilian Radioactive Waste Management Program'; and the 'First Report to the US Congress and the US Secretary of Energy from the Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board. This paper briefly discusses these reports and how they relate to the US Department of Energy (DOE) plans regarding MRS
