High-field MR microscopy of trabecular bone

Description
This paper demonstrates the potential utility of very high field MR microscopy as a tool to visualize and analyze trabecular microstructure. MR microscopy was performed on a Bruker 9.4-T (400-MHz) spectroscopy/microimaging system. Specimens of bovine tibia and human vertebrae were cut into cylindrical shapes, the marrow was removed, and the samples were suspended in water. Two dimensional microscopic images with a spatial resolution of 66 and 33 μm, respectively, were obtained in the spin-echo mode with section thickness of 300-500 μm in about 10 minutes
