Sensitivity investigation of radiographic inspection systems
Creators
Description
A study was made on sensitivity of radiographic inspection systems used for testing joint welds of vessels of feedwater heaters, evaporators and steam separators. X-=ay apparatus with 0.3-4 mm sizes of focal spot were used as radiation sources. Wall thickness varied from 8 up to 48 mm. The effect of testing rate and backscattering radiation on testing sensitivity Was investigated. It is noted that wide application of radiography for testing quality of joint welds enables to decrease sufficiently labour content and increase the level of testing mechanization
