Description
The possibility is discussed for a one-dimensional electronic system to exist over the liquid helium, which is sufficiently homogeneous and ''pure''. This can be realized using the surface curvature of helium flowing into parallel grooves of a dielectric substrate. Electron mean free paths are calculated for such a system. The concluson is drawn on the possibility of localization of carriers along the direction of their quasi-free motion due to their scattering by helium atoms in the vapour and to thermal excitation (rupplons) of the liquid surface, as well as due to the Coulomb interaction between electrons
