Double scattering in Compton profile measurements; an analytic approach
Description
Analytic expressions are derived for double Compton scattering in two different cases: (a) cylindrical sample with zero absorption, (b) a flat sample with realistic absorption. Non-relativistic Thompson scattering is assumed but with simplifications for polarization. A polarization term is obtained from Monte Carlo calculations. For thin samples (thickness=d) the expressions are asymptotically of the form dlog(r/d), where r depends on absorption and sample dimensions. (Auth.)
