Description

This thesis consists of general introduction and two chapters: General Introduction: Includes brief accounts on nuclear pharmacy and nuclear medicine, radiopharmaceuticals, radionuclides used for labeling, chemistry and nuclear properties of iodine, molecular imaging, instruments used for radiation detection, cancer and its etiology, diagnosis and treatment, nano technology and nano medicine, nanoparticles types and its medical applications especially in cancer therapy and diagnosis. Chapter I: Improving the Tumor Targeting Efficiency of Epirubicin Via Conjugation with Radioiodinated Poly (Vinyl Alcohol)-Coated Nano silver In this chapter Poly (vinyl alcohol)-coated silver nanoparticles were prepared. Furthermore, poly (vinyl alcohol)-coated silver nanoparticles were conjugated with epirubicin. They were characterized and studied for in-vitro stability and drug release from the newly formed nano system. Moreover, both poly (vinyl alcohol)-coated silver nanoparticles and epirubicin-conjugated poly (vinyl alcohol)-coated silver nanoparticles were radioiodinated using iodine-131 isotope. Chapter II: A New Modality in Targeted Delivery of Epirubicin for Tumor Theranosis Based on PEGylated Silver Nanoparticles: Design, Radiolabeling and Bio evaluation This chapter highlights enhancing the tumor targeting efficiency of epirubicin through loading on a new radionanosystem, based on the effective role of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in passive targeting of tumor. Accordingly, PEGylated silver nanoparticles (PEG/AgNPs) were prepared. Then, epirubicin was loaded on PEG/AgNPs. Furthermore, both of PEG/AgNPs and EPI/PEG/AgNPs were characterized, and then radiolabeled with 131I isotope. Finally, the bio evaluation of this radionanosystem was examined in healthy and tumor mice models.
