Crystal and electronic structure of MCuO2±δ thin films

Description
Thin films of metastable MCuO2±δ (M=Ca, Sr) with structures similar to the parent material of layered HTSC have been synthesized by multi-sputtering with atomic oxygen source and their electronic structures have been studied by in situ XPS. Energy differences between Fermi level and top of the valence band strongly dependent on a-axis length, which changed with oxygen content and averaged radius of ''M'' ion. The SrCuO2±δ grown with atomic oxygen, which had the longest a, showed non-zero density of states at Fermi level. (orig.)
