Attention to be focused on Efficient Energy Use and Renewable Energy Sources

The National Energy Efficiency Programme approved by the Government has been under way in Lithuania since 1992. Estimates show that within the next 15-20 years, after primary energy resources and power saving measures have been implemented, as much as 25-30% of currently consumed power resources can be saved. Furthermore, 12-14% of currently imported energy resources can be replaced without any detriment to the country's environment by using as fuel wood and peat, domestic waste, biogas and by utilising water power resources, geothermal energy and other renewable energy sources.
