Thermodiffusion and eddy currents in a magnetized plasma

  • 1. AN SSSR. Inst. Prikladnoj Fiziki

Description

The phenomenon of thermodiffusion in a magnetized plasma with local electron heating is experimentally investigated. Eddy currents accompanying the process of plasma thermodiffusion are detected by direct measurements and investigated. Formation of regions with the decreased concentration in the background plasma when occuring diffusion currents is recorded. In this case the characteristic times for plasma concentration change are determined by a unipolar transition coefficient. The data obtained can promote the interpretation of the results concerning nonlinear interaction of high radio emission with the ionospheric plasma
