Description

This paper describes the EPRI Waste Characterization Guidelines which are available to PWR and BWR facilities. The guidelines provide information on sampling of waste streams, and the application of statistical measures to scale the observed results. There is information on selecting laboratories to provide analysis results, evaluating such laboratories, and procedures to use to check the validity of the provided results. The Guidelines have been developed with input from over 30 utility and industry specialists, and contains practical and money-saving suggestions for waste characterization, applied to different types of waste streams
