Incapacity of β - carotene to protect Escherichia coli J-5 against ultra violet lethal action

Description
The ultra violet light survival of Escherichia coli J-5 cell population was not modified when it was β-carotene treated. It was found that this carotenoid does not confer radioprotection to the u.v. light effects in this bacterial strain. (author)

A sobrevivencia a luz ultra violeta, de uma populacao de celulas de Escherichia coli linhagem J-5, nao foi modificada quando estas foram tratadas com beta-caroteno.
