Thermal ageing kinetics and its influence on tendency to brittle fracture in vessel

  • 1. Tsentral'nyj Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Tekhnologii Mashinostroeniya, Moscow (USSR)

Description

The effect of thermal aging at 250-400 deg C temperatures on properties of commercial Cr-Ni-Mo-V- and Mn-Ni-Mo-V-pearlite vessel steels is studied. It is found that steels 10GN2MFA and 15Kh2NMFA-A display a low tendency to aging, that corresponds to requirements towards vessel materials. The activation energy of thermal aging is determined; on the basis of the determined activation energy, as well as the data on variation of the yield strength and fracture toughness it is found that thermal aging in the above vessel steels is related to the state of carbide phase
