The Λsub(c)sup(+) baryon production in interactions of 40-70 GeV neutrons with carbon nuclei

Description

The inclusive production of charmed baryons Λsub(c)sup(+) by 40-70 GeV neutrons on carbon has been observed. The decays Λsub(c)sup(+) → anti K0pπ+π- (130+-18 events) and Λsub(c)sup(+) → Λ0π+π+π- (57+-14 events) have been detected. The mean value of Λsub(c)sup(+) mass is (2268+-6) MeV/c2. The product of cross sections of the Λsub(c)sup(+) inclusive production measured for x > 0.5 and the branching ratios are σxB(anti K0pπ+π-)=(10+-4) μb per carbon nucleus and σxB(Λ0π+π+π-)=(2.3+-1.1) μb per carbon nucleus. The experiment has been performed in the neutron beam of the Serpukhov accelerator using the spectrometer BIS-2
