Description

The activity of the State surveillance of the Slovak Office for Work Safety aims at checking whether regulations and technical specifications for the building and assembly of the individual types of selected technical and technological installations are observed. The Office issued documents on its position towards the worthiness of Unit 1 and later also Unit 2 of the Bohunice V-1 nuclear power plant. In view of the shortage of legal regulations and standards in Czechoslovakia applying to the safety of nuclear power installations, the job of the surveillance body was complex. Currently, technical principles are being processed of a new legal standard in the form of a decree on the state specialist surveillance related to the Act No. 174/1968 Collection of Laws. Also, a division for surveillance over nuclear power installations was set up at the Office and offices were established for inspector teams in the locality of the nuclear power plant construction. After the surveillance division is completed, the activities of the Office will became integral part of the Czechoslovak nuclear programme in Slovakia. (J.P.)
