Formation of double-Λ hypernucleus from quasi-free Ξ- absorption

Description
A possibility to observe a double-Λ hypernucleus is investigated in the case of a quasi-free Ξ- absorption at a (K-, K+) reaction point. A quasi-free Ξ particle brings about a double-Λ compound nucleus in a probability of 0.3% ∼ 0.9% after the absorption into the nucleus. From the statistical treatment for the fragmentation of the double-Λ compound nucleus, it is predicted that ΛΛ6He is emitted with the highest probability among double-Λ hyperfragments in the case of 12C target.
