Radiologic imaging of pancreas transplantation

Description

US scans, CT scans, voiding cystourethrograms, and plain abdominal radiographs obtained in 75 patients who underwent retroperitoneal pancreas transplantation form the basis for this exhibit. Illustrated are the surgical technique, the normal appearance of transplants on US and CT, the normal anatomy of anastomotic sites between the pancreatic duct and the urinary bladder, and the CT and US features of rejection, infarction, pancreatitis, and fluid collections. Features that allow differentiation among pancreatitis, rejection, and infarction on US and CT are emphasized. The role of US and CT in demonstrating and characterizing postsurgical fluid collections is addressed
