Calculation of the level density of actinide nuclei using a combined method

  • 1. V. G. Khlopin Radium Institute (USSR)

Description

A semimicroscopic combined method of calculating the level density of deformed nuclei is proposed. The method consists in using a combinatorial approach at low energies and a statistical approach at high energies. Both approaches are realized in the superfluid model of the nucleus with the use of the single-particle spectrum in the Woods--Saxon potential. As is shown by comparison with experiment, use of the combined method makes it possible to describe the level density of actinide nuclei over a wide energy range
