RAPID-L operator-free fast reactor for lunar base and RAPID operator-free fast reactor for terrestrial power systems
Description
Outline of RAPID-L (Refueling by All Pins Integrated Design-Lunar base: 200 kw power) operator-free fast reactor for lunar base and RAPID (1000kW power) operator-free fast reactor for terrestrial power systems and the development conditions of related component technologies such as operator-free device LEM (Lithium Expansion Module), LIM (Lithium Injection Module)and LRM (lithium Release Module) are reported. LEM is liquid control rod operated by the principle of mercury thermometer. LIM is a shutdown reactor system independent on gravity. When primary coolant attained to the suitable temperature for operating the reactor, freeze seal within LRM melts and 6Li moves at a slow speed, which the same action as control rod withdrawal. When the core exit temperature is over the regular temperature, LEM senses it and inserts the negative reactivity. Close teamwork of LRM and LEM can start as same as a veteran operator. RAPID and RAPID-L have not control rod and are able to move by operator-free using LEM, LIM and LRM. (S.Y.)

高速炉の自己作動型の反応度制御装置LEM、LIMおよびLRM(後述、第4∼6図参照)の開発状況を示す。これらは液体の6Liを使い、自然の原理のみを利用して作動する。さらにこれらの装置を適用した高速炉概念として、完全自動運転の可能な世界初の月面用超安全高速炉RAPID-L1∼6)、およびこの特徴を受け継いだ地上用高速炉RAPID6)の概要を示す。これらの原子炉は制御棒を備えず、上述の装置により無人運転が可能である。またマニュアル運転により出力を変えることもできるが、ヒューマンエラーを完全に排除でき、いかなる故意または過失に対しても安全な特性を持つ。(日本)Additional details
