Collective structures in the doubly magic nucleus 40Ca

Description
High-spin negative-parity states in 40Ca have been investigated by using the 28Si(20Ne, 2α)40Ca reaction. The level scheme of 40Ca was extended to a 17(-) state at 23.5 MeV and three rotational band structures were found. Transition quadrupole moments of the bands were deduced based on the residual Doppler shift analysis, and they show significant collectivity. The observed band structures were compared with cranked relativistic mean field calculations. (author)
