Transcriptionally active locus of the mos-related gene family of the human genome

Description

Previously described human mos-related sequences (locus ORAgp5 is the mos pseudogene and the main mos gene) either do not transcribe or manifest limited expression in some specialized tissues. The expression of the mos-related clone K51 in various tissues of rat and man was studied. Significant transcription of K51 was found in tissues of brain, lungs, skin, and muscles. It was shown that the size of the transcripts depends on the stage of development of the animal. Using K51 as a hybridization probe from a human embryo cDNA library, they isolated three clones. One of these clones (son3) hybridizes with the viral mos probe. These results indicate that the new transcriptionally active representative of the mos-related family of genes has a broad spectrum of tissue specificity
