Three dimensional presentation of a bone structure

  • 1. Nara Inst. of Science and Technology, Ikoma (Japan)

Description

This paper describes a three dimensional (3D) presentation method of a bone structure and experimental results obtained from this method. In this experiment, two dimensional (2D) images, sliced sections of a rat tibia, were acquired using a microscope, a 3D image was reconstructed from these 2D images and the 3D image viewing from various directions was displayed on CRT. The macro structure and the detailed micro structure of a rat tibia can be observed using the method. The results indicate that the method has the advantage to observe the inside of a bone structure.
