The Nagoya cosmic-ray muon spectrometer
- 1. Nagoya Univ. (Japan). Dept. of Physics
Description
A new cosmic-ray magnetic spectrometer was designed and is being constructed. A solid iron magnet is used as a deflection element. Particle tracks are located by eight layers of wide gap spark chambers triggered by four fold coincidence signals of scintillation counters. These scintillation counters are constructed with time-of-flight technique having a time resolution about 10 nsec at a full width at half maximum. The maximum detectable momentum 5 TeV/c and the acceptance 100 cm2 steared are expected. (orig./WL)
