Theory of the de Gennes disgyration in superfluid 3He
Description
The microstructure of the de Gennes disgyration is investigated. Analysis of the set of Ginzburg--Landau equations shows that only the orbital part of the order parameter is coordinate dependent. It is a complex vector, whose real part is directed along the disgyration axis and the imaginary part is perpendicular to the latter (at which it vanishes) and to the radial axis. The B phase and the ferromagnetic phases do not appear in the core. The qualitative features of the solution are also investigated. Quantitative results were obtained by numerical calculations. The stability of the solution with respect to infinitesimal perturbations is proved; accordingly, the de Gennes disgyration can exist as a metastable structure even in a wide capillary
