Description

The non-ionic contrast (CM) medium iopentol (Nycomed AS, Oslo, Norway) was compared with diatrizoate (Schering AG, Berlin, FRG) in a randomized clinical trial in cerebral CT examinations. Fifty-two patients were examined with each CM and a standard dose of 50 ml was given to all patients. No patients in either group experienced any serious adverse event. The frequency of patients with no adverse event at all was significantly higher in the iopentol group and the frequency of heat sensation was significantly lower. Fewer adverse events other than heat were also recorded after iopentol. No difference was found between the CM regarding enhancement properties. (author). 9 refs.; 1 fig., 1 tab
