Application of sterility principle for tsetse fly suppression
Description
This review deals with the possibilities and conditions required for the successful application of the sterile insect release method (SIRM). It outlines the developments necessary for conducting field trials, summarizes the information currently available and itemizes the types of information currently unavailable and therefore required. Primary consideration is given to the feasibility and technical requirements of the SIRM for tsetse fly control. The paper presents the recommendations worked out by the Panel and, in addition to the References, contains an exhaustive Selected Bibliography on the subject.
