The Coriolis attenuation in odd-A nuclei
Description
Rotational bands of several odd-A nuclei in the rare-earth region are analysed in a quasiparticle-plus-rotor model with a rotation-dependent interaction between the core and the quasiparticle. The strength of this interaction determines the Coriolis attenuation as well as the reduction in the recoil term. The alignment behaviour of odd-proton and odd-neutron systems can be reproduced by fitting this one strength parameter. In addition, the dependence of the Coriolis attenuation on neutron number and angular frequency is investigated and a comparison with other theories is given. (author)
