Contribution of transition elements to understand the oceanic basalts genesis. Trace elements analysis in rocks by X-ray fluorescence

Description

By emphasizing the limits of the definition of a trace element and the hypotheses required to develop the classic models of partial fusion and fractional crystallization, the first chapter serves as a general introduction. The second chapter deals with the properties of transition elements towards silicate mineral - liquids partitions. Chapters III (elements with strong partition coefficients), and IV (elements with low partition coefficients), are devoted to data interpretation in terms of compared geochemistry, magmatic processes and heterogeneity of the mantle. Chapter V presents the raw data related to each campaign. The analysis of trace elements by X fluorescence spectrometry is processed in Chapter VI. (author)

Abstract (French)

En insistant sur les limites de la definition d'un element trace et sur les hypotheses necessaires a l'elaboration des modeles classiques de fusion partielle et de cristallisation fractionnee, le premier chapitre sert d'introduction generale. Le deuxieme chapitre traite des proprietes des elements de transition vis a vis des partages mineraux - liquides silicates. Les chapitres III, elements a forts coefficients de partage, et IV, elements a faibles coefficients de partage, sont consacres a l'interpretation des donnees en termes de geochimie comparee, processus magmatiques et heterogeneite du manteau. Le chapitre V presente les donnees brutes relatives a chaque campagne. L'analyse des elements traces par spectrometrie de fluorescence X est traitee au chapitre VI. (auteur)
