Surface geometry and induced orientation of a nematic liquid crystal
Description
The orientation induced on a nematic liquid crystal by a dihedral concave surface and a saw-toothed one is examined with the aim of proving the existence of a critical angle discriminating the homeotropic from the planar alignment. The influence of the elastic anisotropy is taken into account only in the case of the dihedral concave surface. (author)
