Transient thermal stresses in TFTR first wall
Description
A fully coupled transient thermo-elastic analysis of a nonlinear thermo-elastic solids based on the Green and Lindsay's theory is presented. Both convective and radiative boundary conditions are considered. Time integration of the resulting nonlinear semi-discrete finite element equations is performed by using an implicit/explicit predictor/multi-corrector scheme. Then transient thermal stresses in a protective plate assembly of the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR) first wall are analyzed and numerical results are presented. (author)
