An experimental study on the enhancement of radiative and convective heat transfer with high porosity permeable material placed in a duct
- 1. Kyushu Univ., Fukuoka (Japan). Faculty of Engineering
Description
An experiment has been performed in order to examine the enhancement effect of radiative heat transfer by inserting the high porosity permeable metal in a duct at high wall temperature up to 10000K. Consideration is given to reduce an additional pressure drop by setting a certain gap between the duct wall and the porous metal. The experimental results are discussed extensively for the enhancement of heat transfer, coupled with the pressure drop and further summarized in the correlations of mean Nusselt numbers to Reynolds numbers from 1500 to 15000 for the relevant physical parameters such as the permeability, the gap, etc. (author)
