Emittance for a nonlinear machine: the one-dimensional problem
Description
We present a proposal for extension of the emittance concept to a nonlinear machine. Such extension involves the construction of approximate invariants using elementary mathematics and physics. The analysis also includes the chromatic distorsion of phase space. It can be used at the design level of the machine. (author) 7 refs., 4 figs., 2 tabs
