Dispersion of charge distributions in deep inelastic collisions of heavy ions
Description
The generalized density matrix method is applied to interpret consistently the dispersions σsub(Z)sup(2) of charge distributions of a light fragment at fixed mass asymmetry of products from deep inelastic transfer reactions. The contributions given by the quantum fluctuations of the isovector collective modes to the dispersion σsub(Z)sup(2) are estimated as function of the shape taken by the double nuclear system at the moment of its decay. The theoretical estimates are in reasonable agreement with the experimental values of the dispersion σsub(Z)sup(2)
