The hydrogen atom in a semi-infinite space limited by a paraboloidal boundary

  • 1. Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Mexico City (Mexico). Inst. de Fisica

Description

The hydrogen atom in a semi-infinite space limited by a paraboloidal boundary, with the nucleus at the focus, is studied as a model of an atom on the surface of a solid. The energy eigenvalues, hyperfine structure, electric dipole moment and pressure of the system are evaluated as the paraboloidal boundary approaches the nucleus up to the position at which the atom becomes ionized.
