Nuclear interactions and meson multiplicities at ultra-high energies
Description
The meson multiplicities are calculated by using a model based on consequences of a theory of hadronic matter proposed previously. The multiplicities at energies higher than some 1014 eV increase more rapidly with energy than those at lower energies. The high multiplicity is mainly due to that, in the theory, 1) a giant fireball with an arbitrarily large mass can be produced if sufficient energy is supplied and 2) the production probability of a fireball with Lorentz-factor larger than some 105 is suppressed. Die Meson-Multiplizitaeten werden berechnet unter Anwendung eines Modells, das auf den Konsequenzen einer bereits erstellten Theorie der hadronischen Materie aufbaut. Bei Energien ueber 1014 eV nehmen die Multiplizitaeten schneller an Energie zu, als diejenigen bei niedrigeren Energien. Wegen der hohen Multiplizitaet kann 1) ein 'Riesenfeuerball' mit einer willkuerlich grossen Masse erzeugt werden, falls genuegend Energie zur Verfuegung steht und 2) die Wahrscheinlichkeit der Erzeugung eines 'Feuerballs' mit Lorentz-Faktor > 5 verhindert werden.
