Kidney-enquete 1992: State of the art of renal function scintigraphy in Germany

The aim of the 'Nierenenquete 1992' was to evaluate the present importance, indications and methodological strategies of the renography (RG) in Germany. A questionnaire containing 11 issues was sent to a total of 158 nuclear medicine physicians. 103 of these are practicing at a hospital, 55 at a clinic. The questionnaire demonstrated, that RG today is carried out at a highly differentiated level. An important step toward this status today is the introduction of 99mTc-MAG-3, which has rapidly become the renal radiopharmaceutical agent of first choice for RG in Germany. The increasing use of RG in the pediatric field and for functional monitoring of the transplanted kidney is very likely due to the excellent acceptance of 99mTc-MAG-3. 84% of all nuclear medicine physicians have adopted interventional techniques (e.g. Furosemid, Captopril). These additional indications are responsible for the increase of RG's performed last year. (orig.)

Die Nierenenquete 1992 wurde initiiert, um aktuelle Daten zu Leistungszahlen, Einsatzgebieten sowie zu den verwendeten Radiopharmazeutika und Untersuchungstechniken in Deutschland verfuegbar zu machen. Hierzu wurde ein 11 Punkte umfassender Fragebogen an 158 Nuklearmediziner verschickt. 103 der Angeschriebenen sind in der Klinik, 55 in der Praxis taetig. Die Umfrage hat ergeben, dass die Nierenfunktionsszintigrapie (NFS) mittlerweile einen sehr differenzierten Entwicklungsstand erreicht hat. Voraussetzung hierfuer ist sicherlich die rasche Akzeptanz von 99mTc-MAG-3 als nierenaffines Radiopharmazeutikum der ersten Wahl. Auch der zunehmende Einsatz der NFS in der Paediatrie und zur Ueberpruefung transplantierter Nieren duerfte auf die rasche Verbreitung von 99mTc-MAG-3 zurueckzufuehren sein. Auffallend ist die hohe Frequenz (84%) interventioneller Untersuchungstechniken (Furosemid, ACE-Hemmer). Diese Erweiterungen des Indikationsspektrums resultieren in steigenden Leistungszahlen der NFS. (orig.)Additional details
