An investigation of coarse particle transport in inclined pipes

Description

The results of a preliminary study on particle deposition behavior in inclined pipe flows (00 to 900 inclination range) are reported. The maximum deposition velocity has been used as the primary parameter for characterizing particle transport. Three separate regions have been found to exist with the changing angle of inclinations. They are (a) low inclination region (00 to 400), (b) medium inclination region (400 to 500), and (c) high inclination region (500 to 900). The characteristics of particle transport are different in these regions. A simplified theoretical analysis has been presented to explain some of the particle transport characteristics in inclined pipes
