Determination of seismic threat to the Jaslovske Bohunice nuclear power plant

Description

A study of the seismic threat to the Bohunice nuclear power plant locality was worked out. The map of earthquake epicentres of 1443-1985 was updated and modified. The maximum macroseismic intensity in the nuclear power plant locality was determined by using seismostatics methods, by calculation based on empiric knowledge of the variation of intensity or magnitude with the fault length, and by the expert assessment method. In this manner, the intensities of the maximum calculation earthquake and of the design earthquake were determined to be 8deg and 7deg MSK, respectively. Recommendations were given for further geophysical and seismological survey in the locality. Digital recording of seismic effects in this region should be performed for three years. (Z.M.). 5 figs
