The uranium market in the West

  • 1. Uranium Inst., London (UK)

Description

Facts and figures about the uranium supply and demand are presented. The uranium market is complex and fluctuates widely although, in general terms, uranium demand is a function of installed nuclear generating capacity, which in turn depends on overall electricity demand and utilities' decisions about the means of generation. These factors are discussed. Demand is expected to increase gradually but steadily over the following decade and beyond. However, although the total supplies of uranium are ample to meet the foreseen demand, the potential exists for significant local and regional disruption of both supply and demand. (UK)
