Radical generation on γ-irradiated poly-dimethyl siloxane

Description
Poly-dimethyl siloxane radical generation induced by gamma rays from 60 Co source at 77 K has been investigated by Spin Resonance Spectroscopy at 77 K. Gamma radiation induces following radicals formation: .C H3'' .Si3-, .C H2-Si, .O-Si3- and .H at 77 K. Radical concentration observed are not significantly affected by vinyl groups in SILOPREN. Main-chain scission occurs, but crosslinking reactions predominates. (author). 9 refs., 2 figs
