Description

It is argued that the success of overrelaxed stochastic algorithms is generically due to the incorporation of finely tuned reversible mode couplings in the evolution law. A field theoretical formulation of overrelaxation is presented. Within this framework it should be possible to investigate how generic the effect of overrelaxation on critical slowing down is.
