Test of the quasi-optical ECRH launching system for Frascati Tokamak upgrade

Description

The performance of the multi-beam launching system for the Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) experiment at 140 GHz, 1.6 MW on the Frascati Tokamak Upgrade (FTU) has been characterised with electromagnetic tests during final commissioning before installation on the tokamak. Four beams with poloidal and toroidal steering capability and a maximum power density of 60 kW/cm2 on the cross-section are to be expected in the plasma at full power of 400 kW each, allowing a very high power localisation for ECRH experiments.
